Kaishan Group successfully completed the three-day acceptance test steps of the Turkish Ministry of Energy at the OME T-01 geothermal power station in Alasehir, Manissa Province, Turkey from November 26 to 28. As a result, the power station will achieve COD on January 1, 2025.
The installed capacity of the OME T-01 power station is 11 MW. This is Kaishan’s first wholly-owned geothermal power station in Turkey. Kaishan acquired the project in December 2020. Due to the impact of the epidemic, construction started in mid-2023. After the acceptance is completed, the YEKDEM (Renewable Energy Support Mechanism) registration of the power station will be completed next week. From January 1, 2025, the power station will sell electricity at Turkey’s fixed renewable energy grid-connected electricity price (geothermal electricity is 9.45-11.55 cents/kwh) for a period of 15 years.
It is understood that the maximum net external transmission power during the acceptance process was 4.8 MW, which did not reach the designed net power generation power. The main reason why the power plant failed to continue to operate and produce at the designed conditions was due to insufficient reinjection capacity. At present, the resource team has begun to investigate the reason why the reinjection volume during production was only 400 tons per hour, while the reinjection capacity during the test of the reinjection well could meet the design requirement of 690 tons per hour, and will develop a solution.
